Garmin Dash Cam 65W arrives with a 180-degree field of view

Schaffhausen, May 10, 2017 – Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today announced the Dash Cam 65W, its newest dash cam model capable of capturing an exceptional 180-wide-angle field of view to expand the scope of its high-quality 1080p video recording capability. The increased field of view allows drivers to capture even more details from the vehicle’s surroundings such as traffic congestions, road construction and more. The Dash Cam 65W’s wide angle ultimately enhances the way video is captured, shared and viewed. Sleek and compact, the Dash Cam 65W boasts a number of established features found across the Garmin Dash Cam series, including voice control, advanced driver awareness features like red light and speed camera alerts¹, and forward collision and lane departure warnings² to encourage safer driving. A camera-assisted sensor known as the “Go” alert is also built into the Dash Cam 65W to notify drivers when traffic ahead of their vehicle begins to move.

As soon as the Dash Cam 65W is plugged in, the device automatically begins to record high quality eyewitness video footage in 1080p, or 720p with a 2.0-inch LCD display screen and a 2.1 megapixel camera. The automatic incident detection (G-sensor) allows the Dash Cam 65W to save footage on impact, while also adding GPS capabilities for detailed time and location data. The dash cam also offers a parking mode option (cable sold separately) that feeds constant power to the device when the vehicle is parked and turned off, and automatically begins recording surroundings when motion is detected.

The inclusion of voice control enables drivers to speak out commands to the new dash cam to start and stop audio recordings, take still pictures, and save videos. Customers can even speak out commands such as, “OK Garmin, start Travelapse™,” — a video capture feature that compresses hours of video footage into minutes of highlights. When drivers download the free VIRB^® mobile app to a compatible smartphone, drivers can use the Dash Cam 65W’s built-in Wi-Fi^® to wirelessly sync their recorded videos and automatically share them with friends, family or insurance agencies. Garmin introduces a smaller dash cam with bigger features

The Garmin Dash Cam 45 and 55 offer high-quality eyewitness recording with automatic incident detection (G-sensor) to save footage on impact, while also adding GPS capabilities for detailed time and location data. Advanced driver alerts such as forward collision and lane departure warnings¹ are integrated in both new dash cam models to help prevent drivers from either driving too close to the vehicle ahead or drifting off-road. Now with the inclusion of voice control², drivers can start and stop audio recordings and more through voice commands to help keep their hands on the wheel and focused on the drive.

By adding a backup camera option to its value-priced navigators, Garmin makes this important technology accessible to more drivers. The BC 30^TMbackup camera² is sold separately and provides a live camera feed from the rear of the vehicle to eliminate the blind spot. Garmin announces Global Brand Partnership with the Wings for Life World Run

With large 5 and 7-Inch glass displays and extra loud speakers, truckers can clearly see and hear directions and other driving-related information. The new simple truck profile4 makes entering trailer dimensions easier than ever before. Drivers simply enter size and weight to get customized routes that are suitable for their truck. If the device is transferred to another vehicle, it only takes the touch of a button to switch to another profile with different dimensions. With Easy Route Shaping, the new dēzl series even allows truckers to change their route to include preferred roads or cities.

Once on their way, trucking points of interests let drivers find truck-friendly pit stops, including truck specific parking, hotels and weight stations. Along with trucking points of interest, dēzl 570 and 770 include millions of additional places from Foursquare, like restaurants, lodging and more.

Garmin’s latest navigation features provide more intuitive directions than ever before. Only available from Garmin, Real Directions guide drivers in a natural way by using recognizable landmarks, buildings, traffic lights and stop signs to give directions. Additional navigation features include voice activated navigation, Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts, as well as photoReal and bird’s eye junction view. Up Ahead appears alongside the driving map to constantly inform of nearby services, including restaurants, fuel stations and rest areas.

The dēzl 570 and 770 both feature Bluetooth® and can be paired with a smartphone for additional functionality, such as connecting it to a headset (dēzl 770 only) to make and receive calls. Drivers can also use the Garmin Smartphone Link app to receive up-to-date information5, including live traffic information, speed cameras, photos from traffic cameras, weather and more. Both devices come preloaded with HERE Maps and points of interest that don’t rely on mobile signals and are unaffected by 'dead zones'. The preloaded maps of Europe include truck-related restrictions, like bridge heights, sharp curves, weight limits and more. Also included are free lifetime map updates6 and traffic avoidance1 without any ads or subscriptions; and the dēzl 770 LMT-D and the dezl 570 LMT-D comes with live Digital Traffic via DAB, the best traffic avoidance solution available from Garmin.

Both new dēzl models are compatible with the optional Garmin BC 30 Wireless Backup Camera, so truckers can easily spot vehicles, pedestrians and other obstructions behind the vehicle when reversing. If the camera is wired to the reverse lights for power, the navigator can automatically display the live camera feed every time the vehicle is shifted into reverse (and back to navigation mode when shifted into a forward gear). A simple button press will toggle between camera and navigation modes if the camera is plugged into constant power.

The dēzl 570 has a recommended retail price of £319 and the dēzl 770 has a suggested retail price of £379. Both devices are expected to become available in the first quarter of 2015.
