The latest version of Garmin BaseCamp introduces a handy new feature for your tracking handhelds: Basestation. With Basestation, every update received from other devices by your tracking handheld is sent to BaseCamp, allowing you to track yourself, your dogs, and your contacts on your computer. This can free your hands and allow you to see more of the map on a bigger screen. You might find Basestation ideal for a variety of situations, including tracking dogs at hunting competitions or coordinating search and rescue or fire fighting operations.
- Astro 320
- Alpha 100
- Rino 600 series
To ensure Basestation compatibility on these devices, make sure you have the latest software from WebUpdater. BaseCamp must be at version 4.0 or later.
- On an Astro 320 or Alpha 100, navigate to System Setup, and set ‘BaseCamp Basestation’ to ‘Prompted’.
- On any Rino 600 series unit, navigate to System Setup and set ‘Interface’ to ‘Basestation’.
- Connect your device to your computer via USB. When asked if you would like to enter Basestation Mode, select ‘Yes’.
Detailed data can be viewed by selecting “Basestation” under your device, then double clicking on a dog or a contact.
Basestation gives you the same information your handheld does, right on your computer. Alpha and Astro users can see alerts and statistics for each dog. Rino users can see incoming text messages from their contacts.
Alerts can be viewed in the status bar.
When you are finished and you disconnect your device from your computer, BaseCamp will ask if you would like to save the tracks collected while in Basestation.
