Many of us here at Garmin HQ are fans of Reckless Kelly, an Austin, Texas-based rock and roll band with a rootsy twang. On June 24, they'll release Bulletproof, their 7th album, which is chock-full of hard-charging anthems and heartfelt, down-on-your luck ballads.
You can pre-order the album today, and we strongly encourage you to do so. Not only is it great music, but if you purchase the album, you stand to win a Garmin nüvi 760! What's not to like?

It's home sweet home for Elliott Sadler this weekend. The Sprint Cup Series heads to the Richmond International Raceway for the Crown Royal 400 where Elliott and the No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge will take on the 0.75 mile oval track Sunday at 7 p.m. A Virginia native, Elliott has had one top-10 finish in his 18 Richmond starts, which came in the spring 2005 when he placed seventh. After spending 75% of last week's 'Dega race in the top-15, Elliott and the No. 19 Garmin/Best Buy team finished 29th after being involved in the multi-car accident on the final lap of the event. This weekend, Elliott will jump into the same car used at Phoenix just weeks ago, and says they're hoping to show everyone what they can do with it at Richmond.
Elliott agrees that this weekend will be more intense being in his home state, and says, "I used to sit in those very same stands when I was a kid with my family members. A lot of my crew guys are from Virgina, too, so it means a little more to all of us when we race at Richmond."

A picture is worth a thousand words, and that's where this week's Ask Garmin question comes to life. Jim asks, "I have a Garmin nüvi 650 and need to know how to add the pictures from my camera. Can you help me?" Don't worry Jim, the answer is simple. If you're like Jim and want to view JPEG images on your Garmin nüvi, or have your favorite image greet you when the device is turned on, follow these simple instructions and you'll be showing your favorite photo ops to all your passengers! First, download the images from your camera to your computer. Next, connect your device to a PC with a USB cord. Once connected, open the Garmin nüvi drive under My Computer. You will then see a Garmin folder, and inside there, a JPEG folder. Now, all you have to do is save your favorite images to that folder, and away you go! You'll find these images on your device under Tools>Picture Viewer. An alternative is to remove the SD card from your camera, and put it in the device itself to view images temporarily.
Remember, if you have a question, Ask Garmin... and check back every Monday for the answer.

Well, it’s been a week since we announced the Garmin Garage Wrench ‘n’ Win Contest and we’re now pleased to release the first week finalists! Be sure to stop by today and take a look! We heard from Garmin Garage fans far and wide and we were quite impressed with all of the entries. There are still three weeks to go and we’re sure we’ll be amazed by the next rounds, too. So keep sending those sketches, drawings and ideas. We have lots of great prizes that we'll announce soon and remember - at the end of the contest, the winning entry will be voted on by all of you and it will then be turned into an icon for everyone to download!
Also - we appreciate all of the photographs but legal reasons prevent us from making icons based on photographs of actual production vehicles or mass-produced items. Apparently, it’s one of those “lawyer things”. Congrats to our first finalists and good luck to everyone!

Garmin's first portable navigation device with speech recognition capabilities - the nüvi 880 - just received its first review. To our excitement, the crew at PC Magazine enjoyed the new 880 so much, it also earned a prestigious award upon completion of the review. "It's well-designed speech recognition feature is a the real showstopper, though. Frankly, I'm hooked. This is the GPS device that I want on my windshield, and therefore it earns our Editors' Choice," they said. The review also highlights other bells and whistles of this premium navigator, such as the dynamic second generation MSN Direct content, the Where Am I? feature, Bluetooth wireless technology, and many other travel tools nüvi users have come to know and love. Check out the full review and see why everyone is talking... and how nüvi is listening!

Race fans will get the first look at the No. 19 Garmin/Best Buy Dodge paint scheme at Sunday's much anticipated Talladega Superspeedway event.
Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Dodge are getting ready to go in Talladega (of which 17 of the last 18 wins have been a Chevrolet), and have high hopes for this track.
"From what we saw at Daytona and here last year, I can't see us putting on anything other than an exciting race," Elliott said.
After bad luck struck in Phoenix two weeks ago, the team sits 23rd in points going into this weekend's event. They'll take on the 2.66-mile track in a new GEM Chassis No. 238 car this weekend, that has never been raced. Make sure to tune in Sunday at 2 pm ET to see the new Garmin car and cheer Elliott on along the way!

Since we announced the contest at the beginning of the week, we’ve been flooded with lots of great ideas for the Garmin Garage Wrench ‘n’ Win Contest. We are sure going to have our work cut out for us when we pick the five weekly finalists. It’s been great to get such creative ideas and we can’t wait to see what’s next. So keep those sketches coming and remember – we can only use drawings of original artwork and ideas. As much as we’d like to create icons for your personal vehicles, we have a feeling we’d be hearing from some lawyers pretty quickly if we used real-life vehicles. Send those sketches, drawings and ideas our way and you might just see your icon brought to life in the Garmin Garage!

Today's Ask Garmin question comes from Dennis, who says: "I have a heart condition, and my wife and I like to travel in the Midwest. My wife wants to have an automotive GPS that will tell us where the nearest hospital is located. What options do you have available?"
The good news Dennis, is that Garmin has a lot of options that fit your needs. Our newly announced nüvi 700-series devices all boast the "Where Am I?" feature, that displays a driver's latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And for hands-free navigation, nüvi 800 series also displays these important locations when a driver speaks the phrase, "Where Am I?"
In addition to these powerful navigators, each nüvi 2x5 device also includes this popular feature. And don't forget, drivers can easily reference hospital locations on any automotive device by tapping the "points of interest" button, and then "hospitals." Thanks for writing in, Dennis, and enjoy your travels!

We're excited to announce that nüvi 770 just added another trophy to the Garmin collection. Already honored by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as 2008 Best of Adventure Gear, the nüvi 770 pulled off a sweep in the 2007 Engadget Awards. The readers voted, the editors debated, and both groups selected nüvi 770 as the GPS Device of the Year. Click here to see the other winners.
The nüvi 770 has preloaded maps for North America and Europe, a widescreen display, an FM transmitter, hands-free calling, traffic alerts and more. And premium navigation capabilities, such as route planning and a handy locator, gave Engadget's readers and editors even more reasons to cast their votes.

The excitement is high for the No. 19 Best Buy Racing team as they gear up for tomorrow's race in Phoenix. Driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge qualified in second place for the Subway Fresh Fit 500, just outside the pole with a lap of 263.984. Cup drivers will take on the flat-one mile oval of Phoenix International Raceway this weekend, and the team says PIR is the perfect place to get the point battle back on track. Elliott is currently in 20th place in Drivers Points standings, 163 points behind the 12th position. Tune in Saturday night at 8 pm ET to catch all the action.
And although Elliott will be turning up the heat in the orange, yellow and red-flame Stanley Tools paint scheme tomorrow, here's a first look at the No. 19 Garmin paint scheme that will debut at next weekend's Talladega race!

Will lighting strike twice this weekend for Elliott Sadler? With a 2004 victory at Texas Motor Speedway under his belt, Elliott says his confidence level is already up more than usual going into this weekend's event. Currently in 20th place in driver's points standing after a 15th place finish in Martinsville last Sunday, Elliott and the No. 19 Best Buy racing team will take on the 1.5-mile oval track in Fort Worth this Sunday. Hoping to seek his return to victory lane Texas-style, Elliot says he always has room for more hardware from the race track. "I'll tell you one thing about winning at Texas - I do like those big trophies they give out and another one would look good in my house."
Look for the No. 19 car to heat up the track in the Best Buy blue/yellow paint scheme starting at 1:30 ET Sunday afternoon. And be sure to stick around for the latest news from the team, as we're only two races out from Talladega, where the Garmin car is set to make its debut!

Vegas is home to the largest U.S. cell phone show this week, CTIA Wireless, and we're here to show people how you can bring all that Garmin goodness to your cell. After all, it seems like people often fall into one of two categories -- those who want one device that does it all and those who want separate devices that focus on doing one thing. Whatever your pleasure, we're here for you. All of you.
In case you missed the press releases that went out yesterday, here's a quick rundown in no particular order. First, your BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile smartphone will now look a lot more like your nuvi thanks to our new user interface. Plus, we've added Google Local search that gives you access to millions of additional web-based POIs. If you're based in the Midwest or Southeast and use a BlackBerry with Centennial Wireless as your carrier, it's your lucky day. Centennial is even offering a free 7-day trial so you can check out Garmin maps on your phone before you buy. Our third announcement is about helping nTelos wireless customers navigate their day with ease. This is the first time we've implemented a BREW application (a cell phone "language") of Garmin Mobile, so the nTelos news has extra special meaning for our team. Yesterday we also announced that Samsung customers can start using Garmin Mobile XT -- our plug and play maps -- on Samsung devices. This announcement is being rolled out in countries around the world, so you'll want to visit the web for more details.
As you can see, our Garmin Mobile team has been busy and the show has just begun. More CTIA show news will be coming your way, so stay tuned to the blog or if you're at CTIA you can visit our booth #6639.

Today's Ask Garmin topic is a frequently asked question: "I'm a truck driver; which Garmin GPS is best for my job?" While I can't speak for all big-rig drivers, one commonality among the drivers we do hear from is the preference for route planning capabilities. With route planning, drivers can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns from the drivers seat - perfect for life on the road. For those who spend their workdays on an 18-wheeler, we suggest the nüvi 5000 - a big-time navigator on a large 5.2-inch screen. For the ultimate efficiency, this nüvi automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide the best route for errands or deliveries. And in case you ever find yourself off the beaten path, this nüvi boasts the "Where Am I?" feature to help you find your way. In addition to the 5000, other units that support route planning to make traveling more streamlined are the nüvi 700 and 800 series, the StreetPilot 2820, 7200, 7500, and the Quest and Quest 2.
Whether you're navigating life on 2, 4 or 18 wheels, if you've got a question - Ask Garmin! And we'll do our best to dig up the answer. See you next Monday!

Days like this I'm reminded of how many different people in different places (in different climates) turn to Garmin devices to make their lives easier. Last month, I was on a sailboat soaking in the 80-degree breezes of Miami while we were being guided by Garmin chartplotters and other marine products. This week I'm in New Hampshire, where I was greeted by temps in the 40s and mounds of snow. Why? Two reasons: the Rino 530HCx and Colorado 400t, two of our many outdoor handhelds that thrive on the slopes of ski country.
I'm joining snowsports journalists to discuss the many ways GPS technology can lend a hand during winter activities. From keeping track of your friends on the mountain to finding your way back to the lodge, Garmin's high-sensitivity handhelds can keep the focus on having fun and getting some exercise. This week, these snow-goers will see the Rino or Colorado in action, enjoying the Rino's two-way radio and "buddy tracking" functions, or checking out the Colorado's U.S.-wide preloaded topo maps that jump to life amid the snow-capped mountains around us. And at the welcome reception, I heard stories about guests finding the resort with a nüvi or hitting the trails with an eTrex. Warms my heart and almost makes me forget that sailboat. Almost.

This week's Ask Garmin question comes from Tom who is wondering about Bluetooth connectivity. Well Tom, it's convenient, safe and many of our devices boast this hands-free phenom. First, let's talk about what Bluetooth does for you. Once your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone has been paired with your nüvi, Street Pilot or zūmo, you'll be connected to the world of hands-free phone calls, one-touch dialing to reach points of interest (POI) and the ability to find and dial numbers from your phone book or call history log. Then, not only will you be able to use your Garmin to look up the closest movie theater after dinner, but you can even make a hands-free call to check the show times. After the movie, call home to check on the babysitter, or call your friends for a night on the town - all while staying focused on the road. If a 2-wheel ride is more your style, connect your Bluetooth-enabled headset/helmet and cell phone to make and receive hands-free calls. To find out if your phone is compatible, click here. Then check out the list of Bluetooth-compatible Garmin devices to find the perfect match for you.
That's all for today ... if you've got a question, make sure to Ask Garmin and check back every Monday for the scoop.

Today's question comes from Bill, who asks: "Do you make an accessory for a nüvi GPS that provides traffic info?" Bill, you're not alone in hating highway headaches, so we offer several different nüvis and receivers that can warn of logjams ahead. Go to garmin.com/traffic for details.
For starters, we have FM traffic receivers that monitor highway traffic and road construction in many metro areas. Your Garmin device will adjust your route accordingly - or tell you if your current path is still the best way, regardless of a slight delay. Click here for more info on FM traffic and which of our products are compatible.
Then there's MSN Direct, the service that goes far beyond traffic jams. Not only will it solve your commuting concerns, MSN Direct also provides weather updates, fuel prices, movie listings, headline news items, stock listings, local events and custom locations sent directly from Windows Live Local. Click here for MSN Direct details and compatible Garmin devices.

Today's Ask Garmin answers tap into our nüvi line. Joe wants to buy a nüvi and is interested in the nüvi 260W and the nüvi 350. "They both seem the same, except the 260W is a wide screen. Other than that, what's the difference?" With more than 30 nüvi models available to fit your specific needs, the click-and-compare feature on our Web site comes in handy. Simply by choosing the 260W and 350, and then clicking the "compare" button, you can see that the most visible differences are the size and screen (260W has 4.3" screen, 350 is 3.5"). The 350 has a flip-up antenna, is FM traffic compatible, has a headphone/audio jack and can play audio books and MP3s. Thanks, Joe, and happy shopping!
Janet Adams asks, "I have a nüvi 650 and want to know how I can get different voices downloaded on my Garmin? It only came with one voice." Glad to have you in the Garmin family, Janet. You'll find a wide range of voices and languages already available on your nüvi 650 by selecting Tools (the wrench icon) and Locale. The menus on some models differ slightly, so nüvi users can also check under Tools//Settings/Language/Voice. Enjoy!

Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Best Buy/ Garmin Dodge head into Atlanta this weekend with a top-10 seat in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Points standings, just three races into the season. After an impressive 10th-place start during last Sunday's race, the team fought strong for a 12th-place finish in Las Vegas. With that solid finish, Elliott currently sits in ninth place, along side his teammate Kasey Kahne, who is in fourth.
This Sunday, drivers will take on the 1.54-mile oval track at Atlanta Motor Speedway - the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit. "Personally, I like that high line around the track and it works for me," Elliott said.
