The Garmin automotive OEM group has created a golf-themed concept van that will be showcased in the Mercedes-Benz booth during SEMA in Las Vegas (November 4-7). The concept van features a mobile pro shop with the latest golf equipment and electronics. It also boasts two performance training areas where golfers can experience first hand how new golf technology can help improve their game. Garmin designed the concept to demonstrate how small business and fleet owners can utilize the new Mercedes-Benz van to meet their business needs.
“We’re thrilled that Mercedes-Benz has selected our mobile pro shop as one of four midsize concept vans that are on display at the 2014 SEMA show,” said Matt Munn, Garmin managing director automotive OEM. “Mercedes-Benz and Garmin share a passion for golf and technology that offers new ways to experience the game. Our SEMA concept shows how versatile the Mercedes-Benz van is and how business owners can use it to showcase and demonstrate new products.”
The Garmin concept features a mobile pro shop that is integrated into the cargo area of the van. Custom shelving and display racks conveniently slide out of the rear doors and can be set up behind the vehicle. Here, golfers can take a look at the latest golf equipment and devices such as golf clubs and the Garmin lineup of Approach handhelds and wearables. Two demonstration areas on each side of the van allow potential customers to test out the golf products. Mounted on the roof of the van, two large telescope arms hold a golf hitting net as well as Garmin VIRB action cameras. Visitors can try different golf clubs and analyze and improve their swing using the advanced Garmin Approach S6 golf watch with first-of-its-kind swing metrics. Large flat screen TVs provide access to Connect, Garmin’s online fitness community, where golfers can analyze their performance data or look up golf course information and hole layouts.
The exterior and interior of the midsize van follow the golf theme with custom branding and high-end materials to let up to four golfers travel and arrive in style.
