Our new outdoor watch, Garmin fēnix, packs our trusted outdoor technology into a robust, wrist-worn GPS watch to provide you navigation and trip data off the beaten track. Just shortly after fēnix started shipping, we're excited to announce that the new BaseCamp Mobile app is now available. This app allows you to view data from the fēnix on a more detailed map on the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5^[1]. Since fēnix is a wrist-worn watch, it allows you to go hands free while still having access to Garmin’s precise and accurate navigation and trip information. The new BaseCamp Mobile app extends these capabilities by allowing you to take a closer look at your data whenever necessary. Just take your iPhone with you and pair it with fēnix whenever you feel like you’d like to look at a more detailed map.

BaseCamp Mobile utilizes Bluetooth® low energy (BLE) for optimal battery performance on both the iPhone and fēnix. The app will display waypoints, tracks or routes and you can easily switch between regular map, satellite or hybrid view and pan and zoom in each of these. When selecting routes or tracks, you’ll also be able to view elevation, temperature and speed graphs. fēnix is equipped with ABC sensors (altimeter, barometer and compass) to provide you the real-time information you need while on the trail. For advanced and extremely accurate temperature reading, fēnix can be also be paired with tempe^TM, Garmin’s new external temperature sensor.

In addition to being able to view your data with BaseCamp Mobile, we also recently launched Garmin Adventures, a free, interactive way to share your hikes, bike rides, road trips in car or motorcycle, dives and more. Using the BaseCamp desktop application, you can combine track logs, waypoints, geotagged photos , YouTube® videos and more into an adventure that gets published online.
