Christian ChicagoBraving the chilly winter temperatures and drizzling conditions, Chicago cycling fans came out this past week on foot, by train, car and many even on their bicycles to meet cycling star and Garmin-Cervélo team leader Christian Vande Velde.

Christian sat in front of a packed house, at our flagship store on Michigan Ave., of cycling enthusiasts and answered questions Christian Chicago2from how he got his start in the cycling world, to how he trains and prepares on the flat terrain of Illinois. Christian pointed out that cycling is so much more of a team sport than most people realize, and that most of the teamwork comes when the cameras are not around.

"In cycling there can only be one winner, but those guys in argyle are like family and we'll do anything for each other on the bike," Christian explained. "It's all about believing in the systChristian Chicago1em and seeing the big picture. Many of the guys have been here since day one, that's what made standing on the podium in France this past year so emotional."

By logging over 600 miles a week throughout his 13 year professional career and bringing his class and charm to work each day, Christian has bVectorlogoecome well respected amongst his teammates, fans and peloton peers. He, along with his teammates and coaches, can't wait until the availability of our pedal-based power meter, Vector this spring. "Seeing our left and right power output independently and in real-time will be such an advantage for our team," Christian said with excitement.

Whether you are looking for a quick troubleshooting resolution, help with a map update or want to see Garmin's latest and greatest on display, don't forget to stop by and say hi to the skilled staff working in our Chicago store. Also, they have always got some pretty cool promotions going on - like this one here!

Here's to riding into a 2012 filled with new adventures, goals and achievements!
