If you didn’t make it to San Fran this week for the huge Macworld conference and expo, we’ve got the pics right here. Our loyal Mac fans have been anxiously waiting for Mac compatibility, and we’re happy to be the first GPS manufacturer to offer direct Mac support. Garmin Training Center software is now compatible with Mac OS X version 10.4 "Tiger." This software for our Forerunner and Edge fitness products lets you analyze and store workout data, create and schedule advanced workouts and download courses for training. Our web-based analysis application, MotionBased.com, has offered Mac compatibility since last spring. Macworld attendees will have a chance to snag a CD with the new Mac-compatible Garmin TC software. Others can download it from our site later this month.

Thanks Garmin! I've been waiting for the software for Mac OS X for over a year and now that I have it, it works great with my Edge 305! I can finally put away that Windows 98 laptop. No transferring of old data from PC to Mac. Upon first sync with the Mac all my information downloaded into the Mac from my Edge.

I was at MacWorld and got the CD so it is defintely real. At this point, I have only a Forerunner 201 which is still not Mac Compatible because it requires a serial port to USB adapter. I have the adapter but the Training Center software will not recognize the Forerunner due to the adapter.
I'm in the process of ordering a Forerunner 305 now that the Mac is supported.

I agree with the posts above. Garmin should simply post their Training Center software for Mac on the web NOW and label it as English only and that in a few weeks it will be an "international" version. Or, label the English version as "beta" for now.
In the mean time, anyone know where I can download the Mac version (not from Garmin website, that is) :-)

I think it is great that Garmin finally is providing this long promised support, but I am amazed that this was done by handing out CDs at a conference. Why not put the software on the web, I suppose anyone who can find it can read english enough to use it.

Chuck, here are a couple accounts of Mac Training Center in the wild:

There's a long thread on the MotionBased forums as well: http://forums.motionbased.com/smf/index.php?topic=4735.0
MotionBased posted a few helpful tips here: http://wiki.motionbased.com/mb/Training_Center_for_Mac

It's definitely not vaporware. If you check the motionbased osx forums you can find some firsthand reports as well as some hints as to where you might find the app.

I've read no reports of anyone using Training Center software on a Mac. Has anyone else? If it's not being posted online, either it may not exist or it's beta.
Until we see it online, it fully fits the definition of vaporware.

To our Mac friends who didn’t make it to Macworld and are anxiously awaiting Training Center’s debut on Garmin.com, here’s the skinny: the software scored by Macworld attendees is English-only. Software posted on our website is an “official” release, which simply means it includes language support for our customers all over the world. Translations add a little extra time to the release process, thus the slightly longer lead time to the web. It won’t be much longer now we, we promise.

Why, why, why???
If you can burn it to a CD, you can load it on a server...very simple.
Garmin's management baffles me.

If the software's ready enough to be on CD, why do we have to wait to download it?

Why wait until the end of January? If the software is ready to distribute at Macworld, why isn't it available for download? Many MAC Forerunner users will be preparing for spring marathons and could do with getting their schedules organised.
