Takes a Lickin' and Keeps on Tickin'

Gps_1 From the Editors: We're always looking for unique testimonials. If you have a cool story to share, send it our way and if we post it we'll send you a Garmin t-shirt.

"Last June my fishing partners and I made our annual week long walleye fishing trip into Canada.  Of course I had my GPS III Plus stowed safely away in what I would later find out to be a “not so water proof box.”  The last day/night of the trip was one of continuous storms and heavy rain.  We woke up the next morning to a boat full of water which we eventually bailed out and went on our way.  The 500 mile trip home is always exhausting and it is nice just to get home and recover with all good intentions to clean and organize our gear 'later.'

"Saturday, September 9, three months later, I decided to work on the boat some and as I went to pick up my “water proof storage box” it felt a little heavy.  Sure enough the thing was full of water with my Garmin sitting on the bottom.  Of course everything was ruined; my Garmin manual was like “mush” and I was sure my Garmin would make a good boat anchor.

"I decide to check it out just in case.  I let it dry in the sun for a few hours, put in some fresh batteries and held my breath.  I turned it on and it did come on.  It was no surprise that the display was nothing but a horizontal straight line; I did not give up.  I put the thing in my oven at 200 degrees for 1.5 hours.  When I turned it back on, most of the display was there but there were still missing parts.  I put it back in the oven at 250 degrees for 1.5 hours, turned it on and you guessed it, it will be going back to Canada next year but this time it stays in my pack.

"To say the least, I’m impressed."

Comments:

Just wanted to comment on my Garmin Nuvi GPS system. I can't tell you how helpful this unit has been to my business.

I am in sales in the north east and I don't waste time trying to locate customers anymore. I don't know how I ever managed without the Nuvi 350.

Thanks!

Russell Parrott

About the first week in August We had the use of a garmin model 2720. I found the unit to be very goodI have since tried to find out more about the navigation systems. I have looked at all the retail stores on the net such as the source , walmart etc and at all the different brands. I live in The Pas manitoba, about 6 hours North of Winnipeg. We travel to winnipeg every 5 to 6 weeks and having this unit made my trip.Usually my husband drives and I don't worry about the traffic but I don't drive the city normally ---this time I had to.It was absolutely amazing how much it helped and I didn't. have to phone my husband once for directions. We obviously are going to buy one...
